I Need Someone to Look Up To
I want to see and be one of the good guys. Better yet, a great Woman!
In a world that is consumed with social media and television that markets to people who are concerned about adulterous relationships between the most powerful man in the country and a woman that is not his wife, block buster series about a chemistry teachers who cook crystal meth till it’s a perfect blue…what does it say of our society and who we have become! I Need Someone to Look Up To!
We now live in a time and place when historical figures raised us as children with things like Fat Albert, Little Bill, & The Cosby show now can be accused of raping multiple women, and no response from that individual! True or not the damage is done another icon or role model destroyed! And then to speak of a generation that has to live afraid of police if you’re the wrong skin color or in the wrong neighborhood at the wrong time in fear of your life. And if that doesn’t get you we have things like Drugs, Ebola HIV & STDs that will destroy your life within months if not days! I Need Someone to Look Up To!

Life is scary and sometimes we just need a person a good guy a great woman that we can look up to and say they’re not perfect but I can trust their integrity, their love of people and a passion to see the world in a better light! I Need Someone to Look Up To!

I was born in the Congo

I walked to the fertile crescent and built the Sphinx

I designed a pyramid so tough that a star

that glows every one hundred years falls into

the center giving divine perfect light

I sat on the throne

drinking nectar with Allah

I got hot and sent an ice age to Europe

to cool my thirst.

My oldest daughter is Nefferttiti

the tears from my birth pains created the Nile

I am a beautiful woman

I gazed on a forest and burned out the

Sahara Desert

With a packet of goat’s meat

and a change of clothes –

I crossed it in two hours

I am a gazelle so swift –

so swift – you can’t catch me

For a birthday present when he was three

I gave my son Hannibal an elephant –

He gave me Rome for Mother’s Day

My strength flows ever on

My son Noah built new/ark and

I stood proudly at the helm

as we sailed on a soft summer day

I turned myself into myself –

and was Jesus!

men intone my loving name

All praises – All praises

I am the one who would save

I sowed diamonds in my backyard

My bowels deliver uranium

the filings from my fingernails

are semi-precious jewels

On a trip north I caught a cold and blew my nose

giving oil to the Arab world

I am so hip – even my errors are correct

I sailed east to reach west – and had to round off the

earth as I went

The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid

across three continents

I am so perfect, so divine, so ethereal, so surreal

I cannot be comprehended

except by my permission

I mean … I … can fly

like a bird in the sky …

Super Women

What does it mean to be the SUPERWOMAN? The thankless hero who is the etymology of the word ‘multi-task’. Simultaneously listening, talking, waiting, moving, praying and believing. She is the friend that delivers with excellence every time without question. She’s the fanatically proud mother/aunt/sister/cousin present and accounted for, at all of the meetings, games and field trips she can attend.

Superwoman, she is the one committed to the vow of yesterday and the amazing thinker that will strategically plan the ebb and flow of tomorrow-building business, family and community. She is faster then the speed light and uses her super powers to carry the weight of the world on those very shoulders that she doesn’t take the time to get massaged.
Superwoman? A day will come when she will see…the things that she’s given reciprocated-’til then she’ll give, ’till then love…’till then she’s off to save the day.
